Mortal kombat chess board1/13/2024 ![]() When you play Deception, it feels exactly like a PS2 game. It’s not altogether separate from Deadly Alliance, but the variety is there and they did try to spice up controls and move variations. There is also a defensive meter as well that can help you hang on in battles and (after some exploring with the combos) you can use a defensive counter move which, if timed correctly, adds even another element to gameplay. For layman’s fighters, using these combos is the bread and butter if you can’t pull off fatalities or special moves. Each character can switch between three different styles to give you different combos of moves. This game added an interesting bit that I don’t think was in the previous game: unique fighting styles. (I, sadly, have never been that good at pulling them off.) But, there’s a lot of fun gore added even when you are just playing. This is a Mortal Kombat game, as far as controls which means, to do most of the moves of a given fighter is fairly easy for any gamer: it has the normal attack maps for special moves but to pull off a Fatality, you’ve either got to have a game cheat next to you or just be that good. ![]() As a fan of the direction Deadly Alliance took, Deception has been on my list of games to play for a long while. ![]()
